The Embrace

Judas sat still, with an unforgiving chockehold threatening the air in his lungs as the news of his misgivings were announced by the grim reaper. She relished his exposure and loved that it was at the sting of the poison in her hands. Suffocation intended, no pun. The irresponsibility of the actions of Judas would sever bonds with no hope of repair. Something leaked.....which cause Judas to swell with anxiety and the drippity drop of regret. He would soon learn that a mouth kept shut prevents wounds that can easily bleed incessantly.

In the middle of the "trial of Alice", the mad hatters were jeering all around, pointing fingers and grinning happily, that it was him, not them. All hail the deceiver, the first and only one in the world to be peeled off his veil of "which side should I take?" What a cruel way to be skinned, huh?......straight from the flesh in the presence of the crowd, with tense tendons tarnished by treacherous telltale. Judas would learn today.

Sitting vulnerable, the vultures would now take turns to peck and pierce at his volatile, tearful wounds. How quickly they forget that they have been the biggest "Judases", sitting in this same execution chair, praying desperately to God that the ones they betrayed would have mercy. Yet no, the previous perpetrators of this world are the enemies of forgiveness and so they deal with Judas just as they were dealt, and hopes that he even suffers more than they did. Judas can recall how each and everyone of them once deceived him but to scream the injustices now would portray him as trying to escape the grapple of accountability. And so he shuts down, stays quiet and takes the heat of the whip as it lashes put repeatedly.

But out of the waterfall of grace, a thick blanket of understanding wraps itself around Judas and soothes the wounds. It assures him that though the wounds may prolong in healing and though the scars may serve as reminders, there is a greater force that acknowledges the intention to grow and push forward. The blanket's embrace reminds him that there have been "Judases"before him and they too, after the human trial, used time as their friend, which in turn rewarded them with healing....the best reward to come out of a catastrophe.

For now, he takes every blow, for now he takes the shame. He bears no shield. He promises himself however, that should he ever encounter another Judas as himself, he will be prepared to share the warm embrace of the blanket called grace.
