The shadow reluctantly trails its owner, dark with anguish because of the uncertainty that looms. A brand-new environment comes creeping in sight and the shadow cowers at the feet of its body. "I do not know anyone," he whispers. "I wish I was back in my old room," he complains. Strange faces pop here and there, and he is forced to peep, shyly though, and almost crumbling at the thought of him being seen.

But then the light bounces upon the concrete playground and forces him out and he shrieks! Certainly not ready to say hello, he does so weakly, his voice breaks and the tears stab a little, almost ready to burst out. Quickly, he retreats but the light is more intense and here it comes forcefully pulling the shadow out. He will learn today that new beginnings are meant to be explored but really....can he?

The shadow leaps and bounds in a wretched game of hide and seek, losing miserably to the light. All of this is brand new; he surely misses his old home. He yearns to go back. Inevitably, the light saddles and whips him in, so he has no choice but to face it, to absorb it. He enters the new walls with disdain, heart thumping, pores sweating, knees buckling and shaking....the shadow is scared. Utter reluctance seeps down through the gargantuan beads of sweat, each with a resounding echo as they fall and burst on the ground.

A new voice breaks his shivering, a voice that intends to welcome. At the sound of the voice, the shadow comes closer to its owner and begins to feel a little safer. This time, he follows willingly, for the newness of these surroundings spells some mystery to unfold. What shall he discover?

Becoming one with his owner, the shadow shifts perspective. He acknowledges how daunting uncertainty could be, but he knows he must knock on the door anyway. How would he ever know what awaits on the other side if he does not try? Thus, he gently pushes the door, and to the shadow's surprise, the door opens with an expansive view, beckoning him to explore. Although new, the opportunities are boundless. Let the mystery begin...... and so the shadow leaps!

The quest for closure can sometimes come at a high price. People intentionally hurt us and act like we pulled the knife from their back. Closure sometimes looks like accepting that others do not associate themselves with accountability. Closure can look like understanding that others are more interested in their self- righteousness and false sense of grandiosity than actually building and sustaining meaningful relationships. Closure can look like accepting that some people will never admit they are wrong even if the devil held the meeting with them himself. Closure means choosing you. Choosing you and walking away from what others will never acknowledge. Why don't you acknowledge how amazing you are instead, how freely you love, how slow you judge and how automatically that light inside you shines? Uncanny

A big headed, protruding navel, slang talking little boy just popped up in our amidst. All we knew was that he was my uncle's son and a trail of mischief was forever his shadow (inserts chuckle). His name was even stranger.....Jomokenyatah? What on God's green Earth? (inserts chuckle through tears). No formal introduction was necessary,  he just fit right in. We swear, he became our granny's favourite in absolutely no time! Hiding stuff in her blouse to hand to him when she thought we didn't notice, that was a tell all. (inserts chuckle) We remember the days when he ran naked and his mother screamed "Oba,"....... to which there was never a response, just giddy innocence and joy to be part of a clan.
