The Grim Reapers

Look out for them! Eyes wide open, for they are surely all about. The saintly faces whose hideous souls hide behind famous bible verses and motivational quotes that their fingers fail to reach. Look out for them! The disguise of scrutiny holders, holders of judgement over your life, whose eyes burn at your presence, whose lips curl in aguish at your light, whose eyes reflect disgust because "how dare you, be you?'

Look out for them! The ones who pretend to listen but whose lips and tongues are already armored to claw you to the ground. Take heed of them! They wear the loveliest smiles but look well when they watch you, how they stare from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes as if Jesus was somehow hidden upon your skin. They can never hear what you say because the fixation upon you is so fierce that they ears reside under their feet.

The treacherous ones who declare, "I will pray for you," while with a heart beaming and laughing that you are the one in the pit......the same pit that they have the rope to pull you out of but will stand with the rope tied and obscured behind their backs. Look out for them, I say.... the dangerous, vile, and sly creatures, whose thoughts are bounded by their insecurity which causes them to perceive everyone who is authentic, as a threat. Oh, dear child, please look out for them!

 Look out for them, again I say! The ones with the jokes that intend to harm but instead craftily mask them as "you know how we stay." The grim reapers who wear invisible black cloaks, but we know them by their energy, something that does not lie. Be sure to turn around and look at them when you walk away, you might just catch the snares. Be sure to look in their children's faces, you might catch what has been said. Be sure to observe the friends they keep, for their language will reveal exactly how you are perceived.

Beware, I say...they are everywhere. LOOK OUT FOR THEM!!

Forget Them

The quest for closure can sometimes come at a high price. People intentionally hurt us and act like we pulled the knife from their back. Closure sometimes looks like accepting that others do not associate themselves with accountability. Closure can look like understanding that others are more interested in their self- righteousness and false sense of grandiosity than actually building and sustaining meaningful relationships. Closure can look like accepting that some people will never admit they are wrong even if the devil held the meeting with them himself. Closure means choosing you. Choosing you and walking away from what others will never acknowledge. Why don't you acknowledge how amazing you are instead, how freely you love, how slow you judge and how automatically that light inside you shines? Uncanny

A big headed, protruding navel, slang talking little boy just popped up in our amidst. All we knew was that he was my uncle's son and a trail of mischief was forever his shadow (inserts chuckle). His name was even stranger.....Jomokenyatah? What on God's green Earth? (inserts chuckle through tears). No formal introduction was necessary,  he just fit right in. We swear, he became our granny's favourite in absolutely no time! Hiding stuff in her blouse to hand to him when she thought we didn't notice, that was a tell all. (inserts chuckle) We remember the days when he ran naked and his mother screamed "Oba,"....... to which there was never a response, just giddy innocence and joy to be part of a clan.
