Pen That Letter
Rough week huh? You know what, do not even answer that because no answer could fully explain to the world the cyclone of your life, with you always desperately trying to find the eye, the calm, the epicenter, the balance. You could answer in tears but even that gets heavy when it lands in a pool at your feet, maybe you might sink. So, no, not tears but I know......a pen. Then some paper, to pen that letter that only your soul can read.......written in a language of obscurity that only your deepest emotions can feel. Only by the might of each shaped letter can you begin to release what you have carried through a life spent walking upon nails yet dodging, not to be pierced. Who designed this anyway? So, yes.... pen that letter!!
Whisper to the paper sweet fonts, revealing everything you have survived this far and make sure you bend the words in the same way life has contorted you. They deserve it! Swerve that pen in twists and curls and let each word reverberate the echos of your sighs. Pen that letter and ask God to remember you when he serves strength at His buffet, and to reserve you a seat at His round table so you can feast happily in midst of burning despair. Whisper to the paper and write that you love yourself and let the paper lay witness to you never giving up on you, for who else but you.......oh pen that letter I say! Your words will always hold you accountable.
Write to the men who broke your heart, the men who are just like your father. Tell them thank you for the hurt, for you have learned to use it to build immaculate strength. Tell those men you have closure; they cannot haunt you anymore. Now, write and tell the ones who do not know you know they hate you, make those words declare to them that they will never dim this light, a priceless, lustrous light. Then, write to your children and tell them you love them and do not forget to use your words to be honest. Let them know it is nothing of an easy feat but still, also let your words spell promises to never give up on them. Write to the ones you wronged as well and beg them forgiveness. Your words are sometimes swords and they cut and now you need to use those same words to stitch and mend because your words sometimes serve as your own prison..........so write, my dear, for it is your key to freedom.
Pen that letter and sign it with glee. Have you finished yet? Fold it right across your heart and as the tears from the weight of the week you've carried stain the words anyway, you take comfort that they will not be as plenty as to cause a downpour to make you to drown. Pen that letter, yes you. For God's sake, let unspoken words lay mystery on paper and may they forever transcend into healing for the universe that carries you. Your words spell "hero." They recognize the fire in you. Please, pen that letter.
Beautifully penned. You are a Gem.
