That Dance
Of course there were other people there, but only the two of us existed. Entwined in the chords of soulful rhythms and lyrics that endorsed our presence there tonight, the groove was just immaculate. Perhaps even the light of God shone down in that very moment because where there is love, there we find the Lord, right? This was risky but it was the perfect thrill. So, maybe this was the devil, with his conniving self, twisting the truth to make it taste and feel so healthy, so nourishing, so good. Satisfying! An eclectic mood, right there, we danced.
The song said something like "no other woman like you," and the idiot in me melted like a marshmallow over a wood fire, fire indeed for that man surely brought the heat. Into my eyes he peered and gosh, his lips acted like bottle openers flinging stoppers in the smooth way that only the barman did. He was inside my thirsty cave in an instant and I dared not hesitate as I let him fill me up, fuel me, for it was going to be one hell of a ride. Diesel only, please! Ah hell, okay, this was definitely the devil's work. That man should be home with the one he'll never leave but look at me, giddy as a fool, because he chose to be here with me. Should that have meant anything? Obviously not but I let the devil tug me his way.
That dance though.......... one minute we were facing each other and the next he moved into my back like the perfect spoon. That damn cologne, weakened all my senses, even the sixth, and you know what, you could say this man was a wolf, seasoning me up for the taking, to tear the meat, flesh and bones. The devil sent him, I was convinced.
The bass from the speaker understood the devil's mission for it pushed us closer together and forced the beads of sweat to run down, and they played tango as the man's tongue saved them from running down my neck. Jesus!, no Satan!, make him stop! Our bodies intertwined and fireworks hurtled causing us to take more comfort in each other's safety. "Rescue me," my waist gyrated. That dance, the devil's playground, I never wanted it to end. "Please, let us play, I'll let you win," I teased.
The rest is history, a powerful testament to what one dance can do. I'd do it again, though, damn, devil, you!!!
